AI guidelines

These guidelines help every Customer.io team member get the most out of AI tools — confidently and consistently. Think of them as guardrails that keep our brand looking sharp and cohesive, so AI becomes an accelerant, not a source of rework.

Logo usage

  • Always source logo and brand mark files from the Brand Guidelines microsite, as AI recreations can introduce subtle inconsistencies that will render the logo off-brand.

  • Logo and icon explorations are best handled as part of a Brand-led project.

Presentation tools

  • Skip AI "Beautify this slide," "auto-design," and "magic layout" features in tools like Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Canva, as they tend to override our approved layouts, fonts, and spacing.

  • Apply colors, fonts, and imagery manually from our official template library to keep everything on-brand and revision-free.

  • AI-generated slide themes are welcome once reviewed by the Brand team — just check with us first.

Tool & platform approval

  • Consumer AI generators (e.g., DALL·E, Midjourney, Sora) are great for exploration, but loop in Brand before using their output as official assets.

  • Thinking about a new AI tool that touches design or content? Bring it to Brand early so we can help you move faster with the right ones.

Imagery & visual assets

  • AI-assisted visuals are on the table, but they need a Brand review before publishing as official assets.

  • All visuals, AI-assisted or not, should align with our approved color palette, typography, and style guide.

  • To modify approved brand photography with AI, grab a quick Brand sign-off first.

Brand workflows

  • AI involvement doesn't change the approval path, so all external content should still goes through standard Brand review.

  • When submitting AI-assisted work, note how AI was used so reviewers can give faster, better feedback.

  • Not sure if something needs a check-in? Just ask — we're here to help you move quickly and confidently.
